First Holy Communion in Ireland
Most children here make their First Holy Communion in second class, around the age of seven or eight, usually in May. After weeks of practice in school, the day brings the dress or suit, the rosette, photos outside the church and a family meal. Cards come from grandparents, godparents, aunts, uncles and neighbours, and most get read at the kitchen table that evening.
