A Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc from the Wairau River family vineyard of New Zealand.
Sauvignon Blanc - We use some of the oldest vines on our estate (planted in 1983) to make up the blend in this wine, which gives us fruit with very good intensity and weight. Located on the northern side of the Wairau Valley, the flavours produced from this vineyard are in the tropical spectrum with notes of pink grapefruit, passionfruit and gooseberry. Planting on the alluvial soil of old riverbeds gives the wine a fine mineral acidity.
Pinot Noir - This wine is a blend of two of our estate vineyards and also a combination of clones. With careful vineyard management, the crops are kept low to intensify flavour and extract colour. The Pinot Noir is fermented, pressed off and aged in French oak for about 9 months, then bottled. The aim with this wine is to be more fruit driven whilst retaining the inherent characteristics of Pinot Noir.
