Headline: JENNY BLOGGS SET TO JOIN ONE DIRECTION
Sub-Headline: Longford girl wins competition to front band!
Story:
All five members of One Direction have spoken of their delight that Jenny Bloggs will be joining the band for their next world tour.
Like thousands of girls throughout Ireland and the UK, Jenny had set her sights on becoming the only female member of the band after Simon Cowell announced that he was looking for a new singer. The competition had been tough. Dubbed by the press as the XX factor, every entry had to be female and have a killer voice.
Jenny Bloggs from Longford had the voice and talent to quickly knock out most of the early competition, and was an easy favourite going into the finals. The finals, broadcast live at primetime in Ireland and the UK was the most watched programme of 2013. The other four finalists all performed perfectly, and when Jenny finally came out on stage, she knew that nothing short of a flawless performance would see her knocked out.
She chose the song, ‘What Makes You Beautiful,’ One Direction’s debut single. It was a bold move deciding to sing it as a slow ballad. All other contestants had gone with far safer and easier songs to sing. She sang with everything she had. When she sang the final note she looked around her, as the audience, the judges and the millions at home sat in silence.
Suddenly the crowd erupted in applause, whistles and cheers. Louis Walsh ran on to the stage to hug her. Simon Cowell was seen wiping away tears from his face. Although the clear winner, the official voting still had to be done. It was a mere formality however, but even Jenny was shocked when all five members of One Direction came out on stage to congratulate her.
They all hugged and kissed her, and then sang a few of their hits with her – ‘Live While We’re Young’, ‘Gotta Be You’, and ‘Kiss You’. By the time they had finished, it was hard to imagine One Direction without Jenny being in the band!
‘I’m so thrilled that Jenny is joining our band,’ said Zayn. ‘We’re lucky to have her,’ added Harry. Niall from Mullingar said, ‘It’s not just her voice; it’s her look and her personality. She’s going to fit in perfectly.’ Later that evening Niall and Jenny were photographed chatting together in Nando’s.
The World Tour begins in the next few months and Jenny says that she simply can’t wait. Before that though, there’s a huge party to attend, as she is guest of honour in her hometown of Longford. Whatever the future holds for Jenny Bloggs, it’s going to an exciting year for this talented and beautiful star.
