Product Description

Chateau Boutisse St Emilion Grand Cru 2014

Chateau Boutisse is a smooth, velvety and elegant red wine with notes of caramel and spice through to a long and fine finish. This Grand Cru Saint Emilion is one of the best value red wine to come from Bordeaux. We think it is delightful when served with red meat dishes, strong cheese or game. This red wine will age gracefully if cellared well and it will reward for many years but due to the significant use of Merlot in the blend it is a wine that can be enjoyed while young.

Purchased in 1996, Château Boutisse is owned by Xavier Milhade. It is located in the commune of Saint Christophe des Bardes, one of the top communes in AC St-Emilion. It is a relatively large estate for St-Emilion with 23 hectares, mainly planted with Merlot. Huge investments have been poured into the vineyards since 1996 with several parcels of vines being completely replanted. Chateau Boutisse possesses excellent terroir; when the soil was ripped and prepared for planting, large chunks of the recherche limestone were visible under the chalky clay topsoil. Furthermore, certain parcels have excellent southern exposure whilst others are planted on gentle slopes.

Vinification
Traditional vinification in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Cold maceration. Short and regular pumping over. Malolactic fermentation in new barrels. Fining with egg white and aged in new oak for 18 months.

Tasting Note
A warm, intense bouquet of mocha and sweet spices. The palate shows full body with fine yet firm tannins, explosive black cherry fruit, all encased in the subtle vanillin flavours of new oak.
