HEADLINE: Not All Heroes Wear Capes

Sub headline: TOWN NAME WOMAN/MAN honoured by An Taoiseach

For so many, it is just another day here in TOWN NAME. Most people go about their business while many are forced to stay at home due to the current government restrictions.

For some though, it is yet another day to step forward in the battle against the Coronavirus in Ireland. For these few, like FULL NAME, are the backbone of our fight against this deadly plague which has blighted our land. While many of us binge watch the latest Netflix series and worry about our 'Covid kilos', they go about quietly doing their work on the front line and have done so ever since this pandemic struck us.

It is fitting to think of Winston Churchill when he said- "Never was so much owed by so many to so few".

So, it is also fitting that An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, has honoured one among us for their continued hard work and dedication.

For the most part unseen, FIRST NAME has performed their duties with unprecedented diligence and dedication. Their colleagues at PLACE OF WORK nominated them, and last night the Dáil voted unanimously to bestow a Citizen of Valour on FULL NAME.

A celebratory event is being planned where President Michael D Higgins will honour FIRST NAME in a ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin. Many prominent Irish citizens have already promised to attend – Bono, Katie Taylor, Joe Duffy and Matt Damon.

As Seamus Heaney once wrote – “If we can winter this one out, we can summer anywhere” Well, FULL NAME, you have been the sunshine of our summer and our lives, throughout these dark winter months.

Apart from all your friends and family, we at The Irish Gazette would also like to add our sincere thanks to you, FIRST NAME. Go raibh mile maith agat!
