1.1 How do I order gifts from gifts.ie?
We've designed our website to ensure finding and ordering gifts is easy. Each order can contain one or more gifts and can be sent to one recipient's address. If you're buying two gifts for two recipients at two locations, you'll need to place two separate orders. If you do have any queries at any time, please contact us.
- Finding a Gift - there are a number of ways to find suitable gifts on this site:
- Choose a relevant category - Roll your mouse over a category at the top of the page such as 'Shop for Recipient' and click a suitable sub-category. For example, roll-over 'Recipient' and then click 'Gifts For Her'; all suitable gifts for women shall appear. Click on a suitale gift for more information.
- Use Quick Find - Alternatively, if you know what you're looking for, you can use the Search for a gift facility: Roll-over 'Customer Service' and then click 'Search for a Gift' (or click here). Type the relevant text or product code into the Search Criteria textbox and click 'Search'. For example, type in 'chocolate', click submit and all relevant gifts with the word 'chocolate' will appear. Click on the gift for more information.
- Selecting the Gift - Once you have chosen a suitable gift, click the 'Add to Cart' button. This will add the gift in your shopping cart. When the item is in your cart you can easily remove or change the quantity of the gift. You may now continue to shop for other gifts or proceed to ordering the gift.
Note: If you are logged on as a member to our website, the contents of your shopping cart will remain there (even after logging out) until you buy the item(s) or remove the item(s) from your cart. This handy feature allows you to store gifts you'd like to buy on your next visit to our site.
- Ordering the Gift - When you are ready to buy your gift(s), click the 'Checkout Now' link at the top right hand side of the page. If you are not logged on as a member you must now do so. Members can later log back in and check their previous orders and use the address book. Once you have logged on as a member, you shall complete four stages:
- Delivery Information - The delivery address and cost will be displayed. Should you wish to send the gift(s) to another address, simply click 'Change Address' and choose another address or enter a new address. Up to 50 Address can be stored in your Address Book! You may also add any specific comments or add a greeting on the Delivery Information screen. When you are ready to proceed, click 'Continue'.
- Payment Information - Enter your credit card details in the Payment Information screen. All credit card details are sent to gifts.ie via a secure encrypted method (called SSL). When you have completed this section, click 'Continue'.
- Confirmation - The confirmation screen allows you to do a final check of all order details that have been chosen such as the gift(s) and the delivery address. If you need to change any of these simply click 'Edit' to jump back to the relevant previous stage. When you are ready to place the order, click 'Confirm Order'.
- Finished - Thats it! The order has now been placed. You will automatically be emailed an order number and confirmation of the order details. You may also log back in at any time and check your order in the 'My Account' screen.

1.2 How can I pay? / What are the payment methods?

Credit/Laser Cards: gifts.ie accepts Visa, MasterCard, Irish Laser Cards and American Express. Unfortunately at present we cannot accept UK debit cards (e.g. Switch).
PayPal: You may also pay via your PayPal account.
Cheque: You may also send a cheque, bank draught, postal order or make a bank transfer. Orders will be processed upon receipt of payment. For more information on these methods, please contact us.
Invoice/Credit: Corporate clients may pay via purchase order / invoice subject to credit approval and terms, please contact us.
1.3 Do I pay VAT or tax on my purchases?
Valued Added Tax (VAT) is an Irish government tax applied to goods and services. There are three primary VAT rates within Ireland: 21.5%, 13.5% and 0%. The VAT rate which applies to a specific gift is displayed at the end of the relevant gift description screen. The standard VAT rate is 21.5% VAT and books at 0% VAT.
Whether VAT is charged is dependent on the gift's destination (the recipient's location). The below table provides a summary:

*VAT Registered Companies outside Ireland but within the EU are VAT exempt if the gift destination is also outside Ireland but within the EU. A valid VAT Number is required in this case.
1.4 Can I cancel or return an unwanted gift?
Yes, as per our Terms & Conditions, you can return your item to us within 7 working days of receipt as long as the goods are in perfect condition and the packaging remains in an 'as new' state. Prior to returning the item, please contact us to recieve a Product Return Code to ensure the item is accurately tracked. To recieve a PRC, contact us. Perhisable goods and customised goods made according to custom specifications may not be returned. These terms do not affect your statutory rights. 1.6 Will my Recipient know the value of the gift(s) I am sending?
No. Along with the gift, we include a Packing Slip and a Greeting Card with your personal message. No details are sent which lists the value of the gift you have purchased. Instead this is automatically emailed to you when you place your order.
1.7 Will my Recipient know who the gift(s) is from?
Yes. The Packing Slip automatically includes the customer's full name, address and contact details. We do reccommend however that you complete the Greeting field when placing an order.
2.1 Where does gifts.ie ship to?
The gifts.ie website ships within Ireland and worldwide. For more information, please visit our Shipping page.
2.2 What are the shipping rates?

gifts.ie have partnered with An Post's ExpressCourier service, Fastway Couriers, Federal Express and other local couriers to offer flexible delivery options. The available shipping options for the chosen destination will be presented during checkout.
2.4 How long does shipping take?
We dispatch most gifts direct from our warhouse and these are normally delivered next working day if your order before 2pm. For more information, please visit our Shipping page.

2.5 Can I specify on which day to deliver my gift?
Yes, when completing your order, simply enter a note in the Order Comments field with your requested date. Although we cannot guarantee specific delivery dates, we will try our very best to have your gift arrive on the requested day. Please remember that no deliveries take place on weekends of bank holidays.
2.6 Can I specify a delivery time during the day to deliver my gift?
No, unfortunately at present it is not possible to specify a delivery time during a specific day to deliver gifts. We use third party nationwide couriers who deliver our gifts via hundreds of local drivers. If you believe your recipient or someone on their behalf may not be at home for delivery, perhaps you can specify a suitable work address.
3.1 Are my credit cards details secure?
Yes, gifts.ie uses Realex Payments (Ireland's largest online payments Company) to process your credit card details during checkout in real-time.
All data transmitted is encrypted via a secure server (SSL) and we do not store your card details. We use strong security measures to prevent the loss, misuse and alteration of your

4.1 I've forgotten my password - help!
Passwords are not accessible via our customer service team, so if you have forgotten your password, simply go to the login page and click on the 'Password forgotten? Click here' link. You will need to enter in your email address and will be automatically sent a new random password, which you can of course change as soon as you want to something more personal and memorable.
